About the position

The Village of Arlington Heights is seeking applications for the position of Assistant Planner. The Assistant Planner will join a fast-paced department of planners and will have the opportunity to work on exciting and interesting development projects to ensure the health, safety, and economic well-being of residents of the Village of Arlington Heights. This role is integral to the community's planning efforts, focusing on creating a lasting impact through effective urban planning and development strategies. With the goal of building a community of lasting value, the Assistant Planner will research and assist in the development of special studies, proposals, and code amendments. This includes collaborating with other planners in the department to ensure that all projects align with the community's vision and regulatory requirements. The Assistant Planner will also assist with economic development programs, perform site inspections, conduct zoning reviews, prepare exhibits for reports and public meetings, and assist other planners in the department as assigned. A key responsibility will be performing zoning reviews for building permits, ensuring compliance with local regulations and standards. Qualified candidates will have at least a Bachelor's degree in urban planning or a related field, and at least a year of related experience. Experience with GIS software, AutoCAD, and graphic design is required, as these tools are essential for effective planning and communication of ideas. The salary range for this position is $67,238-$90,769, with an anticipated hiring range of $67,238-$69,094, depending on qualifications and experience.
