About the position

The Assistant Planner is a foundational role designed to develop planning skills through structured training and mentorship from a Planning Manager. This position focuses on managing in-season and pre-season plans to support regional strategies, maximizing sales potential while minimizing risks at the store level. The role involves analyzing key performance indicators and collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement effective planning strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze performance using standardized reports prepared monthly.
  • Review future plans based on historical performance and knowledge of future business conditions.
  • Identify risks and/or opportunities by product and Region.
  • Propose recommendations to Location Planning Manager and implement approved changes into the planning system.
  • Prepare hindsight analysis and collaborate with Merchandise Planning counterpart at key fiscal points.
  • Conduct hindsight reviews to present findings to Senior leadership.
  • Propose recommendations to capitalize on opportunities and/or reduce risk for next year.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to implement Store strategies and address callouts and errors.
  • Utilize forecast to evaluate future Store plans against system parameters.
  • Analyze historical performance and develop skills to propose flow strategies to Location Planning Manager.
  • Develop Region plans by applying hindsight analysis and known assortment strategies.
  • Review higher product levels to validate the mix of assortment within a Region.
  • Present recommended plans to Location Planning Manager in a formal meeting.
  • Recommend store lists for limited door product opportunities and analyze different store groups.
  • Modify system generated Store level plans by resolving outliers and exceptions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to feedback.
  • Results-driven with a focus on accuracy and achievement.
  • Intellectually curious with strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Resilient and persistent in achieving goals.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and Excel skills, along with retail math knowledge.
