About the position

The Assistant Planner at Freeport-McMoRan plays a crucial role in supporting the planning and execution of maintenance activities within the rod and refining plant in El Paso, Texas. This position involves collaborating with Planners to ensure the readiness and availability of materials and equipment, maintaining schedules, and assisting in data management to support maintenance decisions. The role is integral to the efficient operation of the plant, which is a key contributor to the company's copper production.

Responsibilities

• Support the area Planners in all facets of job preparation, execution, and follow-up as prescribed by Freeport-McMoRan standards.
• Maintain a history for all assigned activities in the management system.
• Interact with Planners to maintain and monitor planned schedules for assigned activities.
• Attend daily, weekly, and monthly planning meetings with key stakeholders.
• Review, prioritize, and schedule work orders.
• Assist in maintaining the integrity of data in the maintenance management system (SAP).
• Assist Planners in the planning and organization for planned major production shutdowns.
• Assist Planners with generating regular and ad hoc reports.
• Engage with onsite Global Supply Chain to control warehouse minimum/maximum levels and appropriate storage conditions of materials and parts.
• Upkeep, monitor, and adjust schedules for assigned activities.
• Organize data to support maintenance management decisions, including departmental budgets and weekly forecasting.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED and two (2) years related experience in supporting field maintenance or operations department within a mining/mfg environment, OR an Associate's degree in an applicable field.

• Electrical/Mechanical background and knowledge
• Experience conducting predictive maintenance procedures in an industrial setting
