About the position

The Assistant Portfolio Manager for Alternative Investments at STRS Ohio plays a crucial role in the investment decision-making process, focusing on the management and evaluation of the alternative investments portfolio. This position involves developing portfolio strategies, generating and evaluating investment opportunities, and supporting internal deal team efforts. The role also includes providing training and guidance to less senior staff, ensuring the effective execution of investment strategies that align with the organization's long-term performance objectives.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the investment decision-making process for alternative investments.
• Develop portfolio strategies to meet long-term performance objectives.
• Generate and evaluate prospective investment opportunities.
• Conduct due diligence and prepare investment recommendations.
• Lead or support internal deal team efforts for alternative investment strategies.
• Develop and maintain strategic partner relationships for deal flow.
• Provide training and guidance to less senior alternative investments staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related field required.
• Master's degree in business administration, economics, statistics, finance, applied mathematics, or a quantitatively oriented field strongly preferred.
• Ten or more years in quantitative investment research strongly preferred.
• Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter holder preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of economics, finance, and statistics including asset pricing theory and portfolio theory.
• Proven ability to conduct research, model proforma financials, analyze data, and value financial assets.
