About the position

The Assistant Preschool/Pre-K Teacher (Room Closer) at Loving Life Lehighton Preschool & Childcare is responsible for providing a safe and nurturing environment for children aged 3 to 5 years. This role involves supervising children, assisting with their daily needs, and engaging them in educational activities. The position requires flexibility in scheduling, particularly for closing shifts, and emphasizes the importance of building relationships with families.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety and supervision of children aged 3 to 5 years.
• Serve afternoon snacks to children.
• Assist with cleaning up after rest time for older preschoolers.
• Help children with bathroom needs, including monitoring and changing soiled clothes.
• Engage with children through social and emotional interactions, music, dramatic play, art activities, and outdoor play.
• Create an afternoon schedule that includes one engaging, teacher-led, hands-on activity per day.
• Perform cleaning tasks for closing the room, including vacuuming, wiping down tables, and sanitizing materials and toys.
• Effectively communicate with parents during pickup and build trust and rapport with families.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• 2500 hours of previous child care experience is required.
• Current PA child abuse, NSOR, criminal background history check, and FBI clearances are required (assistance provided if needed).
• Physical and TB test required before the official start date.
• Valid Child Development Associate (CDA) certification is preferred, along with an Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education.
