About the position

The Assistant Principal at Bane Elementary School is responsible for supporting the principal in the administration of the school, focusing on enhancing educational programs and fostering a positive learning environment. This role involves collaboration with diverse stakeholders, including students, staff, families, and the community, to prepare learners for the 21st century. The Assistant Principal will also oversee various operational aspects of the school, ensuring compliance with educational standards and promoting innovative instructional practices.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the development and evaluation of educational programs.
  • Encourage and support the development of innovative instructional programs.
  • Promote the use of technology in the teaching/learning process.
  • Promote a positive, caring climate for learning.
  • Communicate effectively with students and staff.
  • Participate in the development of campus improvement plans with staff, parents, and community members.
  • Help principal develop, maintain, and use information systems to track progress on performance objectives.
  • Observe employee performance, record observations, and conduct evaluation conferences.
  • Use the Cypress-Fairbanks Teacher Evaluation and Support System (CF-TESS) appropriately with teachers.
  • Assist the principal in interviewing, selecting, and orienting new staff.
  • Supervise operations in the principal's absence.
  • Help plan daily school activities, including class schedules and extracurricular activities.
  • Supervise reporting and monitoring of student attendance.
  • Work with department heads to compile annual budget requests.
  • Requisition supplies, textbooks, and equipment; check inventory and maintain records.
  • Assist with safety inspections and safety drill practice activities.
  • Coordinate transportation, custodial, cafeteria, and other support services.
  • Ensure that students are adequately supervised during non-instructional periods.
  • Help develop a student discipline management system.
  • Conduct conferences on student and school issues with parents, students, and teachers.
  • Participate in professional development to improve skills related to job assignments.
  • Articulate the school's mission to the community and solicit support.
  • Demonstrate awareness of school-community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs.

Requirements

  • Master's degree from a recognized, accredited college or university.
  • Appropriate standard administrator certification for the assignment.
  • Instructional Leadership Development certification or eligibility preferred.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of successful experience as a classroom teacher.
  • Visionary leadership skills to work collaboratively with diverse students, staff, families, and communities.

Nice-to-haves

  • 2-5 years of reading/language arts background preferred, but not required.

Benefits

  • Full-time employment with a competitive salary of $68,346 per year.
  • Probationary/Term Contract for 200 days.
