About the position

The Assistant Principal at Cypress Park High School is a leadership role focused on enhancing educational programs and fostering a positive learning environment. This position requires collaboration with diverse stakeholders, including students, staff, families, and the community, to prepare learners for the challenges of the 21st century. The Assistant Principal will support the principal in various administrative tasks, including staff supervision, program evaluation, and community engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the development and evaluation of educational programs.
  • Encourage and support the development of innovative instructional programs.
  • Promote the use of technology in the teaching/learning process.
  • Promote a positive, caring climate for learning.
  • Communicate effectively with students and staff.
  • Participate in the development of campus improvement plans with staff, parents, and community members.
  • Help principal develop, maintain, and use information systems to track campus performance objectives.
  • Observe employee performance, record observations, and conduct evaluation conferences.
  • Assist the principal in interviewing, selecting, and orienting new staff.
  • Supervise operations in the principal's absence.
  • Help plan daily school activities, including class schedules and extracurricular activities.
  • Supervise reporting and monitoring of student attendance.
  • Work with department heads to compile annual budget requests.
  • Requisition supplies, textbooks, and equipment; check inventory and maintain records.
  • Assist with safety inspections and safety drill practice activities.
  • Coordinate transportation, custodial, cafeteria, and other support services.
  • Ensure that students are adequately supervised during non-instructional periods.
  • Help develop a student discipline management system.
  • Conduct conferences on student and school issues with parents, students, and teachers.
  • Participate in professional development to improve job-related skills.
  • Articulate the school's mission to the community and solicit support.
  • Demonstrate awareness of school-community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs.
  • Share supervisory responsibility for professional staff with the school principal.

Requirements

  • A master's degree from a recognized, accredited college or university.
  • Appropriate standard administrator certification for the assignment.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of successful experience as a classroom teacher.
  • Visionary leadership skills to work collaboratively with diverse students, staff, families, and communities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Instructional Leadership Development; certified training for teacher appraisal or eligible for such.

Benefits

  • Salary based on experience as set by the Board of Trustees.
  • Probationary/Term Contract for 210 days.
