About the position

As an Assistant Production Manager at UniFirst, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the success of your location by training your Team Partners, maintaining the facility, and developing improved processes to enhance efficiency. This position is designed for enthusiastic and hardworking team players who are eager to contribute to a positive work environment. You will be responsible for implementing the UniFirst Quality Policy within the Production Department, ensuring compliance with ISO certification standards, and maintaining the building and its equipment in optimal condition. Your role will also involve participating in the education and implementation of the guiding principles of the UniFirst Mission Statement and strategic plan. You will create a positive atmosphere by treating employees with dignity and respect, encouraging their involvement in problem-solving, and conducting safety training in accordance with OSHA rules and procedures. Performance appraisals and counseling of departmental personnel will be part of your responsibilities, as well as developing improved processes and systems to maximize efficiency through innovation and creativity. Additionally, you will manage departmental activities related to safety, health, and environmental issues, ensuring compliance with corporate policies and federal, state, and local regulations. You will also assist in minimizing supply costs through organized purchasing and inventory control, and participate in achieving divisional growth goals for customer retention and new customer sales. Meeting budget requirements and operating the department as a profit center will be essential aspects of your role. You will follow all safety policies, HACCP, and medical guidelines, and perform other duties as assigned by management.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D equivalent is required.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate background or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Prior experience in the laundry industry is preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and a safe driving record is required.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from co-workers, managers, and vendors.
  • Ability to lift up to 80lbs and carry up to 70lbs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a managerial role within the laundry industry.
  • Knowledge of ISO certification processes.
