About the position

The Assistant Professor in Animal Science at The Ohio State University focuses on teaching undergraduate courses with an emphasis on dairy and veterinary sciences. This tenure-track position involves significant teaching responsibilities, curriculum development, and scholarship activities, contributing to the academic and professional development of students in the field of animal sciences.

Responsibilities

  • Teach approximately six to seven courses per year in animal sciences with a focus on dairy cattle and veterinary-related classes.
  • Grade assignments and submit grades in a timely manner.
  • Hold office hours for student support and guidance.
  • Develop syllabi, curriculum, assessment measures, and class schedules in collaboration with faculty and the division chair.
  • Assist in identifying and onboarding associated faculty as needed.
  • Engage in student recruitment and orientation activities.
  • Advise undergraduate biosciences students and student organizations.
  • Conduct scholarship in dairy science, animal science, and/or teaching pedagogy.
  • Participate in professional development activities related to teaching and the discipline.
  • Serve on committees and contribute to the Institute, College, University, and professional communities.

Requirements

  • PhD or DVM with a major in dairy science, animal sciences, veterinary medicine, or a closely related discipline.
  • Five years of prior classroom teaching experience in undergraduate dairy or animal science education.

Nice-to-haves

  • Five years of work experience in dairy and/or animal-related industries.
