About the position
The College of Social Sciences and Humanities at Northeastern University is seeking a tenure-track faculty member at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level specializing in Global China. The successful candidate will engage in teaching and research focused on China's political, economic, and security roles in the global context, contributing to the college's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses on China's political, economic, and security roles in the global arena.
- Analyze China's evolving foreign policy and its implications for regional and global stability.
- Conduct research on topics such as economic statecraft, investments in the Global South, and the Belt and Road Initiative.
- Collaborate across disciplines and contribute to the development of curriculum and pedagogy that reflects diversity and inclusion.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Political Science, Sociology, Anthropology, History, or related fields by the employment start date.
- For Associate Professor: at least 4 years of relevant experience.
- For Full Professor: at least 6 years of relevant experience.
- Deep knowledge of China's political system, economy, and security role.
- Professional competency in the Chinese language.
- Evidence of interdisciplinary expertise and collaboration.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with qualitative, quantitative, or mixed methods approaches to research.
- A record of substantial research productivity and grant support.
