Assistant Professor- Chemistry

About the position

Eastern Mennonite University (EMU) is seeking an Assistant or Associate Professor in a tenure-track faculty position in Chemistry. The successful candidate will hold a Ph.D. in Chemistry with a specialization in organic chemistry. The position involves teaching undergraduate courses such as Organic Chemistry I and II, Analytical Chemistry, and chemistry for non-majors. There is also an opportunity to teach graduate students in biomedicine, which is considered a plus. The candidate is expected to develop an ongoing scholarly program that involves students and to participate in department and university service, including advising and mentoring a diverse student body and serving on university committees.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate courses: Organic Chemistry I and II, Analytical Chemistry, and chemistry for non-majors.
• Teach graduate students in biomedicine (preferred).
• Develop an ongoing scholarly program that involves students.
• Participate in department and university service, including advising and mentoring a diverse student body.
• Serve on university committees.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Chemistry with expertise in organic chemistry.
• College level teaching and/or post-doctoral experience preferred.
• ABD candidates will be considered at the rank of instructor.

Benefits

• Nine-month contract with a teaching load of 24 semester hours per year.
