About the position

The Department of Fine and Performing Arts at Regis College, within Regis University, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor in Choral Activities to start in August 2025. The department is seeking a Choral Conductor who is a dedicated music educator to teach undergraduate choir, other courses in the Music Program, courses in the college liberal arts core, and to recruit for the Music Program. Applicants who demonstrate a strong commitment to recruiting and retention, music education, and supporting diverse student populations are strongly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Teach a full load of undergraduate courses each semester, typically 3 fall-semester courses and 3 spring-semester courses.
  • Attend program/department meetings.
  • Recruit students into the Music Program from area high schools.
  • Oversee the voice area of the program.
  • Advise music majors for both coursework and recital planning.
  • Provide service to the university.
  • Engage in scholarly choral research and/or performance.

Requirements

  • Doctoral Degree in Choral Studies or related terminal degree with Choral Emphasis completed by August 1, 2025.
  • College teaching experience, including as a graduate student instructor.
  • Active engagement with scholarly choral research and/or performance.
  • Evidence of an engaged understanding of foundational vocal pedagogy, and the choral literature from a diversity of cultures and times in history.

Nice-to-haves

  • Demonstrated experience in college-level music program recruiting.
  • Evidence of engagement in Music Education (K-12).
  • Background in, or dedication to, mentoring and teaching students from diverse demographics or backgrounds.
