About the position

The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, in collaboration with the Division of Adolescent Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, is seeking candidates for several Assistant Professor positions. These positions are available in either the non-tenure clinician educator track or the tenure track. Ideal candidates will possess an M.D., M.D./Ph.D., Ph.D., or an equivalent degree, along with a proven track record of successful research that aligns with their career level. Board certification or eligibility in Pediatrics or Internal Medicine and Adolescent Medicine is strongly preferred. The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia plays a crucial role in the Penn Center for AIDS Research (CFAR), with the Division of Adolescent Medicine serving as a pivotal hub for research within the CFAR. This center encompasses the entire School of the University of Pennsylvania, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, and the Wistar Institute, boasting a vibrant community of approximately 150 highly interactive faculty members across various scientific domains, with a total annual NIH HIV/AIDS research funding of around $50 million. Teaching responsibilities for this position may include both inpatient and outpatient clinical duties, as well as educational roles. Clinical responsibilities will involve providing primary and specialty care in Adolescent Medicine at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, along with participating in the clinical education of medical students, residents, and fellows as part of the Craig-Dalsimer Division of Adolescent Medicine. Candidates will have the opportunity to work at multiple practice sites, including a primary care practice, specialty care satellite locations, and inpatient units at CHOP, as well as a behavioral health hospital. It is important to note that PhD-only candidates will not engage in direct patient care or have clinical responsibilities. Research or scholarship responsibilities will primarily focus on adolescent or young adult health research pertinent to HIV prevention or care. This may intersect with related areas such as STIs, sexual/gender minority youth, substance use, mental health, health disparities, parent-teen relationships, and community-engaged research. Candidates are expected to develop and lead a research program that is funded through career development and/or independent research grants. Active participation in the Penn CFAR research community is anticipated, which offers extensive services and activities aimed at advancing HIV/AIDS research. We are particularly interested in candidates with a strong record of research productivity and scholarship, demonstrating either an established or emerging national reputation. Collaborative clinical research opportunities are available in areas such as education, continuous quality improvement, health services, health disparities, resiliency, STIs/HIV, pregnancy prevention, smoking, substance use, gender issues, eating disorders, weight regulation, depression, and suicide. We are looking for candidates who embrace and reflect diversity in its broadest sense. The University of Pennsylvania and Children's Hospital of Philadelphia are equal opportunity employers. We encourage applications from minorities, women, individuals with disabilities, and protected veterans. The University of Pennsylvania values diversity and seeks talented students, faculty, and staff with diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. Candidates will be considered for employment without regard to race, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, creed, national or ethnic origin, citizenship status, age, disability, veteran status, or any other legally protected class.
