About the position

The Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure clinician educator track at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the Perelman School of Medicine focuses on Cancer Multi-omics Diagnostics. The successful candidate will direct a newly forming CLIA-certified Cancer Research & Development Laboratory, addressing the needs of cancer clinical trials through advanced multi-omics testing. This role combines clinical responsibilities, teaching, and research, emphasizing the development of diagnostic tools and collaborative work in multi-omic diagnostics.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Director for the CLIA-certified Cancer Research & Development Laboratory.
  • Conduct multi-omics testing to inform patient care in cancer clinical trials.
  • Teach fellows, residents, medical, and graduate students.
  • Develop and implement diagnostic and translational medicine tools.
  • Establish and improve standards for interpreting multi-omic data.
  • Assess risk factors and provide quantitative data interpretation in clinical labs.
  • Develop and implement new clinical tests using advanced technologies.
  • Perform data analysis and sign-out, ensuring laboratory quality control.
  • Communicate results to oncologists and medical professionals.
  • Facilitate analysis and diagnostic interpretation for rare pediatric tumors.
  • Consult on infrastructure for multi-omics data management.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary tumor conferences and molecular tumor boards.
  • Engage in cancer translational research and establish collaborative work.

Requirements

  • M.D. and/or Ph.D. degree required.
  • American Board of Medical Genetics certification in Laboratory Genetics and Genomics or Molecular Genetic Pathology certification required after Pathology residency.
  • Eligibility for medical licensure in Pennsylvania.
  • Experience with Next Generation Sequencing (exome/panel sequencing, whole genome sequencing, RNA sequencing).
  • Experience in cancer cytogenetics including chromosomal analysis, FISH, SNP array, or CGH array.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in epidemiologic, translational, or clinical research.
  • Strong record or potential in academic focus with publications and funding.
