About the position
The Assistant Professor of Counselor Education - Clinical Mental Health at Austin Peay State University is a full-time, tenure-track position focused on teaching graduate courses in the M.S. in Counseling program. The role involves not only delivering high-quality instruction but also engaging in research activities and supervising graduate student interns. The position is set to begin in August 2025 and is located in a vibrant community with access to various resources for teaching and research.
Responsibilities
- Teach graduate counseling courses including Addictions Counseling, Diagnosis and Psychopathology, Counseling Theories, Counseling Techniques, Internship and Practicum, and Theories and Practices in Clinical Supervision.
- Advise graduate students.
- Supervise counseling graduate student interns.
Requirements
- A Doctorate in Counselor Education from a CACREP-accredited program (ABD will be considered if the doctorate will be completed by August 1, 2025).
- Licensed or license-eligible as a professional counselor (LPC) in Tennessee.
- Experience with advising, practicum, internship & clinical supervision.
- Background or expertise in addictions counseling and addictions recovery.
- Experience with online and other technology-assisted instruction and familiarity with CACREP accreditation standards and self-study are desirable.
- Graduate level teaching experience preferred.
