About the position

Broward College is seeking a full-time tenure track Assistant Professor in Criminal Justice to join its Central Campus. The role focuses on teaching, curriculum development, and engaging with a diverse student population. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to student success and employ innovative teaching methods to accommodate various academic backgrounds.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses in Criminal Justice and related fields.
  • Consult with students and provide academic support.
  • Prepare course outlines and syllabi.
  • Process grades within deadlines.
  • Participate in college-wide and discipline area faculty meetings.
  • Engage in curriculum development and assessment of student learning outcomes.
  • Provide feedback to students in a timely manner.
  • Participate in service to the college and community.
  • Engage in professional development activities, including attending conferences.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, or Forensics, or a Master's Degree with 18 graduate credit hours in these fields; PhD preferred.
  • High level of digital literacy and commitment to teaching.
  • Understanding of the racial, socioeconomic, academic, and cultural diversity within the community college student population.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with innovative and inclusive pedagogies.
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness, such as course evaluations or sample syllabi.
