About the position

The University of La Verne is seeking an Assistant Professor of Educational Counseling for a full-time, non-tenure track position within the LaFetra College of Education. This role focuses on training school counselors with an emphasis on diversity, social justice, and advocacy. The candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive school counseling programs, and must be knowledgeable about the American School Counseling Association (ASCA) National Model and Ethics Code.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive school counseling programs.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of counseling programs and make necessary adjustments.
  • Teach courses related to educational counseling and supervise student internships.
  • Engage in scholarly activities and contribute to the academic community.
  • Advocate for social justice and equity in educational settings.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Education or a related field.
  • Valid California Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) Credential in School Counseling.
  • 3 to 5 years of school counseling experience in PK-12 settings.
  • Experience in teaching and/or working with adult learners.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with bilingual education or multicultural counseling.
  • Knowledge of current trends in educational counseling and social justice advocacy.
