About the position

The College of Staten Island is seeking a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor in Educational Studies, specifically focusing on Community Based Leadership. This role involves teaching, conducting research, and providing guidance to doctoral students, while also contributing to departmental and college service. The successful candidate will engage in community partnerships and demonstrate a commitment to diversity and inclusion within the academic community.

Responsibilities

• Engage in research and publication in the field of Community Based Leadership.
• Teach courses and advise doctoral students in the Community Based Leadership Ed.D. Program.
• Develop courses in areas of specialization related to Community Based Leadership.
• Perform departmental and college service duties.
• Engage in professional activities that enhance the academic community.
• Develop partnerships with community and K-16 schools.

Requirements

• Ph.D. or Ed.D. in relevant area or ABD (with completion anticipated before the start date).
• Ability to teach successfully and demonstrate scholarship or achievement.
• Ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

Nice-to-haves

• Demonstrated commitment to research and publication in areas supporting scholarship in communities and leadership.
• Experience in urban education, social work, sociology, history, or law.
• Ability to collaborate on program administration and community building with faculty and doctoral students.
• Experience in urban communities, including pre-K-16 education, hospitals, social agencies, and community-based organizations.
