About the position

Broward College is seeking applicants for a full-time tenure track position as an Assistant Professor in English. This role is dedicated to fostering a learning-centered community that values diversity and inclusion, aiming to empower and engage a diverse student body of approximately 51,000. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching, curriculum development, and participating in various college committees, while also adapting instructional methods to meet the needs of students from varied backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Teach English courses and provide student consultation.
• Prepare course outlines and syllabi, and process grades within deadlines.
• Participate in curriculum development and review of student learning outcomes.
• Engage in campus governance and departmental program review.
• Provide prompt and supportive feedback to students.
• Participate in service to the college and community.
• Engage in continued professional development and attend relevant conferences.

Requirements

• Master's Degree in Composition/Rhetoric, Creative Writing, English, Language Arts/English Education, Linguistics, or Literature; PhD preferred.
• High level of digital literacy and commitment to teaching.
• Evidence of responsiveness to the diversity within the community college student population.
