About the position
The University of Wisconsin-Madison is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Extension Fruit Crop Entomology. This role focuses on developing outreach and research initiatives to enhance the management of Wisconsin's diverse fruit crops, including apples, cranberries, grapes, and small fruits. The successful candidate will lead a recognized Extension program supported by a robust research agenda aimed at sustainable fruit crop management, particularly concerning pest and beneficial arthropod management. The position emphasizes collaboration with existing Extension teams and aims to build resilience and sustainability in fruit crop systems through effective outreach and research dissemination.
Responsibilities
- Develop an ongoing, independent, regionally and nationally recognized Extension program supported by a strong research program in sustainable fruit crop management.
- Secure extramural funding to support research and Extension activities.
- Teach students at various levels and contribute to graduate student instruction and mentoring.
- Contribute to service functions of the department, college, and campus communities.
- Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the department and scientific discipline.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Entomology, Agricultural Sciences, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in research and outreach related to fruit crop management and entomology.
- Ability to secure extramural funding for research and Extension programs.
- Experience in teaching and mentoring students in an academic setting.
