About the position

The Assistant Professor of Hospitality Management at Johnson County Community College is a full-time faculty position focused on teaching and developing courses in the Hospitality Management area, particularly in food and beverage management and hotel and lodging classes. Responsibilities

• Teach 12-15 credit hours per semester in Hospitality Management.
• Maintain scheduled office hours for student support.
• Develop and implement course and program assessments of student learning outcomes.
• Build and maintain relationships with industry and academic partners.
• Participate in college, division, and department meetings.
• Serve on committees as required.
• Recruit students for the Hospitality Management program.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management or related field.
• Minimum of three years of industry experience.
• Demonstrated teaching experience.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated strong organizational and planning skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's degree in Hospitality Management or related field.
• Supervisory responsibilities in a commercial kitchen.
• Budget responsibility for a hospitality enterprise.
• Operations experience, including P&L statements and human resource functions.
• Postsecondary teaching experience.
