About the position

The Department of Counseling, Health & Kinesiology is seeking applicants for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor position in our undergraduate and graduate Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) program to begin in Fall 2025. Texas A&M University-San Antonio (A&M-SA) is a contemporary university reflective of the diverse and heritage-rich community it serves. Founded as the first upper-division institution of higher education in South San Antonio, A&M-SA today is a comprehensive four-year university offering affordable, high-quality education. Since becoming a standalone university and from fall 2009 to fall 2022, enrollment grew 215 percent. The University currently serves more than 7,300 students and has graduated more than 15,300 alumni. The student body is 65.7 percent female and 77 percent Hispanic, and approximately 73 percent of students are the first in their family to attend college. Through the University's 37 undergraduate degrees and 19 graduate degrees, students can pursue a wide variety of in-demand fields, such as education, business, information technology and cybersecurity, criminology and biology. Responsibilities

  • Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in the ABA degree programs.
  • Supervising practicum students.
  • Maintaining an active research agenda.
  • Collaborating with colleagues in the Department, the College of Education and Human Development, and the University, as well as with community partners.
  • Quality performance in teaching, with a primary teaching responsibility of 6 courses per academic year (3/3 load) and the possibility for summer teaching.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in ABA, special education, psychology, or a related field by August 1, 2025 (ABD will not be considered).
  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst.
  • Prior teaching experience in a university setting.
  • Applied experience providing ABA services.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively address the educational needs of first-generation students.

Nice-to-haves

  • Possess or be eligible for Texas Licensure (Licensed Behavior Analyst).
  • A record of scholarly productivity commensurate with level of experience.
  • A record of extramural funding commensurate with level of experience.
  • Teaching experience at the graduate level in behavior analytic courses verified or accredited by ABAI.
  • Teaching experience at the undergraduate level in behavior analytic courses verified or accredited by ABAI.
  • Experience mentoring and supervising students in ABA.
  • Experience with educational technology and distance learning.
  • Experience providing ABA services to individuals with autism spectrum disorder.
  • Experience providing ABA services in schools.
