About the position

The University of North Georgia is seeking a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor in Criminal Justice at its Dahlonega campus. This role involves teaching undergraduate courses, maintaining an active research agenda, advising students, and participating in various university committees and service activities. The position emphasizes educational excellence and community engagement, aligning with the university's mission to develop students into leaders for a diverse and global society.

Responsibilities

  • Teach four undergraduate courses per semester.
  • Maintain an active research agenda to produce scholarly publications.
  • Assist in advising students enrolled in the Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice.
  • Serve on University, College, and Departmental Committees.
  • Engage in multiple service-related activities such as student advising and mentoring.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Law (LL.M. or M.L.S.) or Juris Doctorate (JD) or equivalent degree.
  • Duly licensed and authorized to practice as an attorney under the laws of any State, territory of the United States, or the District of Columbia.
  • Active member of the bar in good standing (preferred).
  • Ability to teach courses such as Evidence, Constitutional Rights & the CJ System, Juvenile Justice, Criminal Procedures, Introduction to Criminal Law, and Introduction to Criminal Justice.
