About the position

The University of Kentucky is seeking a full-time, tenure-eligible Assistant Professor in Dietetics and Human Nutrition. This position focuses on excellence in teaching, mentoring graduate students, and developing a research program in nutrition, particularly in the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases. The role includes a distribution of effort of approximately 60% instruction, 35% research, and 5% service, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2025.

Responsibilities

  • Exhibit excellence in classroom instruction at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Mentor graduate student theses and evidence-based projects for students pursuing the MS in Nutrition and Food Systems.
  • Support experiential learning opportunities for students, including clinical simulations at the University of Kentucky Healthcare Simulation Center.
  • Develop a research program with an emphasis on nutrition in the prevention and treatment of chronic disease, preferably with a clinical focus.
  • Support and expand multidisciplinary opportunities with clinicians.
  • Contribute to the multi-functional, land-grant mission of the Department through outreach and engagement efforts.

Requirements

  • Candidates must hold a terminal degree (PhD, EdD, DCN) in the field of dietetics or human nutrition (or a related field).
  • RDN required with licensure, or eligibility for licensure, in Kentucky.
  • Evidence related to instruction and mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students is expected.
  • Evidence of potential for grantsmanship, publication, and presentations at regional and national conferences should be provided.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional background or experience teaching in clinical nutrition, medical nutrition therapy, counseling, chronic disease management, wellness, and/or sports nutrition is preferred.
