About the position

The University of Pennsylvania's Department of Psychiatry is seeking candidates for several Assistant Professor positions in Global Mental Health and Implementation Science. This role focuses on investigating, evaluating, and implementing programs aimed at preventing or intervening in psychiatric disorders, particularly in low- or middle-income countries (LMICs) and low-income communities in the U.S. The position offers opportunities for teaching, clinical responsibilities, and leading independent research in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Direct a course on the implementation of evidence-based practices in LMICs.
  • Lecture on global mental health and implementation science in various courses.
  • Provide clinical administrative support to implement evidence-based practices in LMICs.
  • Engage in direct patient care as appropriate.
  • Lead an independent research program focused on implementing evidence-based practices in LMICs.
  • Expand and direct an emerging program in implementation science and global mental health within the Department of Psychiatry.

Requirements

  • M.D. and/or Ph.D. or equivalent degree.
  • Expertise in global mental health, particularly in LMICs or low-income communities in the U.S.
  • Evidence of scholarship in the field of implementation science.

Nice-to-haves

  • Expertise in substance use and comorbid medical conditions such as HIV.
