About the position

The Assistant Professor in Music Theory at Indiana State University will teach various levels of undergraduate music theory and aural skills courses, with the possibility of additional courses assigned based upon secondary area of expertise, as needed. The position also includes the coordination of the music theory and aural skills courses, developing an active research agenda in music theory and music theory pedagogy through peer-reviewed presentations and publications, and serving on committees for the department, college, and university.

Requirements

  • Doctorate in Music Theory or related music field (ABD candidates will be considered, but the doctorate must be completed by the start date).
  • Demonstrated record of excellence in teaching various collegiate music theory and aural skills courses.
  • Experience in teaching diverse repertoires and theoretical perspectives.
  • Commitment and strong potential for excellence in teaching, mentoring, and advising of undergraduate students from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Evidence of a promising or established record of scholarly research through publication and conference presentations.
