About the position
The Department of Biomedical Sciences at Grand Valley State University is seeking a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor to begin in Fall 2025. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching human anatomy courses and associated cadaver-based labs, while also developing an active research program that engages both undergraduate and graduate students. The position emphasizes a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, particularly in working with diverse student populations.
Responsibilities
- Teach human anatomy courses and associated cadaver-based labs.
- Develop an active research program that engages undergraduate and graduate students.
- Engage in scholarly/creative activity and service within the department.
- Participate in departmental and university service activities.
- Maintain a nine-contact hour teaching load per semester.
Requirements
- Ph.D. or equivalent degree in anatomy, biological anthropology, comparative biology, health sciences, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Commitment to successful classroom teaching and an active research program.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including respect, cultural humility, and empathy.
- Evidence of commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and access.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience teaching human cadaveric anatomy using both a systems-based and regional approach.
- Experience involving undergraduate students in research programs.
- A consistent record of peer-reviewed publication and presentation.
