About the position

The Assistant Professor of Biomedical Sciences at Eastern Kentucky University is a tenure-track position focused on teaching and research in the biological sciences. The role involves delivering undergraduate and graduate courses, maintaining an active research agenda, and mentoring students. The successful candidate will contribute to the academic mission of the College of STEM and engage in collaborative research efforts within the department and with external partners.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a full-time teaching load, teaching courses as assigned to meet the needs of EKU students.
• Utilize effective teaching methods and innovative techniques to enhance student learning.
• Demonstrate the ability to teach, develop, and implement courses related to the curricular area.
• Maintain an active research agenda and pursue extramural funding.
• Mentor undergraduate and master's students.
• Collaborate effectively with colleagues to support the mission of EKU.

Requirements

• Earned Doctorate in Biology (Biomedical) or a related field from an accredited institution at the time of appointment.
• Knowledge of current practices in professional communication and social media.
• Effective interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Analytic and problem-solving skills.
• Active and effective listening skills.
• Ability to collaborate with peers and students.
• Evidence of good character, mature attitude, and professional integrity.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience teaching biological concepts at the college or university level.
• Evidence of active engagement in scientific research at the doctoral level.
• Evidence of potential ability in academic assignment and/or professional contributions and activities.
