About the position

The Department of Chemistry at Bucknell University is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor in organic chemistry, starting August 1, 2025. The role involves teaching organic chemistry lectures and labs, with opportunities to teach biochemistry and contribute to other courses. The successful candidate is expected to develop a strong research program in organic chemistry, ideally with a biological emphasis, and to support diversity efforts within the sciences.

Responsibilities

• Teach organic chemistry lectures and labs regularly.
• Occasionally teach biochemistry lectures and/or labs.
• Develop a strong research program in organic chemistry.
• Contribute to other courses based on background and interests.
• Advocate for the advancement of diversity efforts within the sciences.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in chemistry or a closely related field.
• Postdoctoral experience preferred.
• Outstanding candidates in the final stages of their dissertation may be considered, provided they complete their degree in the first year at Bucknell.

Nice-to-haves

• Professional experience outside academia is welcome.
• Research interests with a biological emphasis are preferred.
