About the position

The University of Mississippi is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Communication Sciences and Disorders to begin in August 2025. This position focuses on pediatric speech-language pathology and requires a strong commitment to research, teaching, and service within the department and the university. The successful candidate will contribute to the academic community through scholarly publications, external funding pursuits, and teaching responsibilities at both undergraduate and graduate levels.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and sustain a line of research in pediatric speech-language pathology.
  • Pursue external funding to support research programs.
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in communication sciences and disorders.
  • Advise students and direct student research projects.
  • Engage in departmental, college, university, and professional service activities.

Requirements

  • Earned doctoral degree (PhD or EdD) in communication sciences and disorders or a closely related field.
  • Earned CCC-SLP certification.
  • Eligibility for Mississippi state licensure.
  • Record or demonstrated potential of scholarly peer-reviewed publications.
  • Experience in securing external funding for research programs.
  • Successful teaching experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Expertise in child language acquisition and disorders.
  • Experience with literacy and school-age language disorders.
  • Knowledge of pediatric feeding and swallowing.
