About the position
Kansas Wesleyan University is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Computer Science to join the Department of Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science. The role focuses on teaching undergraduate courses in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, and related math courses, while also mentoring students in their research endeavors. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of the newly redesigned Computer Science programs and enhance research opportunities for students.
Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate courses in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, and related math courses.
- Supervise and mentor undergraduate students in their individual research projects.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the redesigned Computer Science curriculum.
- Support and expand the curriculum to enhance research opportunities for majors.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related field, or a Master's degree with professional experience in a related field.
- Strong commitment to improving access to computation for all students.
- Enthusiasm for teaching undergraduate students, especially introductory courses.
- Ability and desire to supervise and mentor undergraduates in research.
Nice-to-haves
- Expertise in areas such as data science, data analytics, information science, cognitive science, decision science, applied statistics, or computational math and science.
