The University of Texas Permian Basin's Department of Social Sciences welcomes applications for an Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice and Social Sciences. The person hired will start mid-August of 2024. The person hired will be one of 11 full-time faculty in the Department. This person will teach a mix of online and face to face courses, including Introduction to Criminal Justice, Theories of Criminal Behavior, Criminal Justice Administration, Corrections in America, Research Methods, Quantitative Analysis, Juvenile Delinquency, Homeland Security, Probation and Parole, Application Practices in Criminal Justice, and other criminal justice courses that are of interest to the students and the hired faculty member. In addition, must be able to teach general education courses in these areas, sociology and/or political science. May be given the opportunity to teach an upper level course in these areas. The person will also be considered for the position of Coordinator of the Undergraduate CCJS program and possibly of the Graduate CJAD program. They are expected to pursue an active research agenda, provide academic advising to students, support students in need of academic improvement, engage in service to the university, college, and department, actively participate in the Department's expansion, and perform other reasonable assignments as needed for the advancement of the CCJS and CJAD programs.
