About the position

The Assistant Professor of Digital Media and Animation at Pacific Lutheran University is a full-time, tenure-track faculty position aimed at enhancing the Department of Communication, Media, and Design Arts (CMDA). The role focuses on teaching and developing courses in Digital Media and Animation, supporting the Design BFA and Studio Art BA programs, and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration within the university. The ideal candidate is an artist-educator who actively engages in professional artistic practice and is committed to inclusive teaching strategies, particularly for a diverse student body.

Responsibilities

• Instruction and development of courses in Digital Media and Animation.
• Mentorship and advising of Studio Art and Design majors.
• Ongoing professional activity, including professional/artistic production and/or research.
• Participation in departmental operations and support of its culture, including faculty meetings, student advising, and event programming.

Requirements

• MFA or terminal degree must be completed by September 1, 2025, or a BFA with a minimum of ten years of professional experience and recognition.
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching.
• Facility with current, industry standard software.
