About the position

The Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) is a tenure-track faculty position focused on teaching, research, and service within the College of Education. Responsibilities

  • Teach master's and doctoral level courses to new practitioners and working professionals, utilizing various instructional modes including in-person, hybrid, and online formats.
  • Chair theses and dissertations, providing guidance and support to graduate students throughout their academic journey.
  • Conduct and disseminate research related to higher education and/or student affairs, contributing to the academic community.
  • Engage in service and governance activities at the program, department, college, and university levels, including participation in committees and meetings.
  • Maintain an active presence in national, state, and regional professional organizations.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or Ed.D. in educational leadership, higher education/student affairs, or a related discipline, with degree completion by August 1, 2025.
  • Demonstrated potential for effective teaching, mentoring, and advising of diverse students at the graduate level.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment and engaging with a diverse student population.
  • History of working successfully with a diverse college student population, including underrepresented groups.
  • Evidence of, or potential to develop, a productive research agenda using critical methodologies or theories.

Nice-to-haves

  • Effectiveness in teaching graduate-level courses related to diversity, equity, and justice in U.S. higher education.
  • Experience in counseling/advising and/or leadership positions in community colleges or higher education institutions.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in instructionally related work focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Experience supporting students' graduate-level writing and advising on theses/dissertations.
  • Involvement in professional associations related to education.
