About the position
The Department of History at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor in History beginning August 1, 2025. The focus of the position is the history of the United States, but with a subspecialty in one of the following subfields: East Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, Middle East, Sub-Saharan Africa. The area of research interest is open. Applications must be submitted by December 31, 2024. Only complete applications will be considered. Benedictine College has a full-time undergraduate enrollment of approximately 2000 students and is a mission-centered academic community. Its mission as a Catholic, Benedictine, liberal arts, and residential college is the education of men and women within a community of faith and scholarship. Responsibilities
- Teaching four classes per semester, both surveys and more focused upper-division classes.
- Engagement in and service to the department, college, and community.
- Full participation in faculty events and engagement in faculty responsibilities.
- Maintaining a strong research agenda and broad teaching interests.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in History, which must be in hand by the date of hire.
