About the position

The Assistant Professor of Illustration at Ball State University is a full-time, tenure-track position beginning in August 2025. The role involves teaching various levels of illustration courses, mentoring students, and contributing to the academic community through scholarship and service. The successful candidate will engage in course development and participate actively in the School of Art and the broader university community, fostering an inclusive and innovative educational environment.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses in illustration including ART 213, ART 214, ART 317, ART 318, and ART 417.
  • Develop new curriculum in illustration based on programmatic needs.
  • Mentor students at all levels and supervise senior capstone projects.
  • Produce scholarship and creative work in line with tenure requirements.
  • Participate in committees and contribute to the development of the School of Art and the College of Fine Arts.

Requirements

  • MFA in illustration, animation, art, or related field from an accredited institution by the date of appointment, or at least six years of documented industry experience in illustration, animation, art, or related field.
  • Authorization to work in the US.

Nice-to-haves

  • Significant industry experience in the field of illustration.
  • Evidence of current professional practice in illustration.
  • At least eight months of teaching experience at the college level.
