About the position

The Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design Visual Communication Design Department invites applications for the position of full-time Assistant Professor of Illustration. Responsibilities include a full teaching load conducted over 8-week terms, active participation in college service, and creative industry work.

Responsibilities

• Teach 2-3 classes totaling between 25-40 students within each 8-week session.
• Engage in discipline-based, interdisciplinary, and/or multidisciplinary work that advances knowledge within the field and learning within the classroom.
• Participate in college committees and project teams.
• Build informal relationships with students and provide advising to support their academic and future career.
• Engage in outreach activities and curriculum design + oversight.
• Serve in community organizations or associations that further and promote RMCAD.
• Develop courses as part of the service component.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional practice in industry, demonstrated by a professional portfolio.
• 3+ years of college-level teaching experience, both in-person and online.
• A Master's Degree in Illustration or related field.

Nice-to-haves

• MFA Degree in Illustration.
• Ability to teach a range of Illustration courses at various levels, including Perspective, Life Drawing, Illustration I-3, Portfolio Courses, and Digital Illustration.
