About the position

The University of Oklahoma seeks a practice-oriented Assistant Teaching Professor for a multi-year, 9-month Rank-Renewable (non-tenure) position in the Division of Planning, Landscape Architecture, and Design. This role involves teaching undergraduate courses in Environmental Design and contributing to community planning and design projects through the Institute for Quality Communities, aiming to enhance local quality of life.

Responsibilities

  • Teach 4 to 6 courses per academic year in the undergraduate Environmental Design program.
  • Contribute to professional project-based work with the Institute for Quality Communities.
  • Balance teaching and project work based on the needs of the IQC and instructional requirements, potentially varying from 40% teaching/60% project work to 60% teaching/40% project work.
  • Mentor undergraduate students in project-oriented coursework.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a discipline represented in Gibbs College or a related field.
  • Experience in community engagement, design, and/or planning.
  • Demonstrated ability or willingness to mentor undergraduate students.
