About the position

The University of Texas at Arlington is seeking an Assistant Professor of Practice in Landscape Architecture, focusing on sustainability and resiliency in urban design. This full-time, non-tenured position primarily involves teaching in the Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Urban Design (BSSUD) program, preparing students for careers in creating resilient and environmentally sustainable urban spaces. The role also includes opportunities for research and service responsibilities, contributing to both undergraduate and graduate programs.

Responsibilities

• Teach studio, core, and elective courses in the BSSUD program.
• Advise capstone projects for students in the BSSUD program.
• Contribute to the Master in Landscape Architecture (MLA) program by serving on thesis committees and teaching core courses.
• Engage in research and creative activities related to sustainability and resiliency in urban design and landscape architecture.
• Incorporate community outreach and engagement into teaching and practice.

Requirements

• Terminal landscape architecture degree from an LAAB-accredited institution (MLA).
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching design courses at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels.
• Strong skills and knowledge in at least three of the following areas: Sustainability & Resiliency, Urban Design, Landscape Architecture, Landscape Architecture History, Geospatial Technologies, Graphic Communications.

Nice-to-haves

• Evidence of exceptional design work and graphic communication skills.
• Professional licensure or significant professional experience in urban planning and landscape design.
• A Ph.D. or advanced research degree in a relevant field.
• Experience with community outreach and engagement.
