About the position

Oklahoma State University is seeking an Assistant Professor in Personal Finance to provide educational leadership and expertise in personal finance. This tenure-track position will focus on developing, implementing, and evaluating programs aimed at improving financial outcomes for individuals, families, and communities. The role includes responsibilities in both Extension (70%) and research (30%), with an emphasis on collaboration with external stakeholders and interdisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead a dynamic OSU Extension and research program focusing on personal finance.
  • Involve in Extension activities coordinated within the department.
  • Assist and train Extension field staff.
  • Conduct regular evaluations of the impact of Extension efforts.
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders such as state agencies and industry partners.
  • Establish an externally funded program that integrates Extension and research.
  • Engage in scholarly activity directed toward peer-reviewed materials, including publication of extension materials and original research publications.
  • Contribute to a positive work environment.

Requirements

  • Earned Ph.D. in personal finance, family or consumer economics, family financial planning, or related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in personal finance.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively convey information both verbally and in writing to both academic and general public audiences.
  • Capability to identify and proactively seek external funding for research and Extension initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to advance scholarship.
