The Assistant Professor in the Physician Assistant Program at Lawrence Technological University is responsible for the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of the didactic and clinical curriculum. This full-time faculty position involves presenting lectures, conducting laboratory instruction, developing assessments, and engaging in student advising and admissions processes. The role also includes participation in accreditation processes and maintaining professional development in the field.

  • Assist with the implementation, evaluation, and revision of the didactic and clinical curriculum.
  • Participate in the ARC-PA provisional accreditation application and maintenance.
  • Course direct specific didactic courses as assigned by the Program Director.
  • Recruit and orient appropriate lecturers for didactic courses.
  • Instruct PA students in areas of knowledge and expertise.
  • Participate in academic advising of PA students.
  • Engage in student recruitment, admissions, interviewing, and selection.
  • Conduct laboratory instruction during the didactic and clinical phases of the program.
  • Perform site visits of student advisees as required.
  • Evaluate students by grading assignments, examinations, OSCEs, practical skills, and oral presentations.
  • Attend faculty meetings and participate in committees and retreats.
  • Maintain NCCPA or appropriate NP certification and licensure.
  • Engage in professional development opportunities, including diversity, equity, and inclusion training.
  • Participate in local, state, and national physician assistant educational and professional associations and conferences.
  • Engage in clinical practice and scholarly activities as determined by the Program Director.
  • Maintain professionalism and integrity as a role model for students.
  • Participate in simulation activities in the program.
  • Review mission, program goals, and competencies annually with the program team.
  • Assist in student remediation for both didactic and clinical phases of the program.
  • Participate in program self-assessment and data collection.
  • Coordinate community service and service learning associated with the program.
  • Assist the Program Director in program fiscal management.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the Program Director.
  • Graduation from an accredited physician assistant, nurse practitioner, or medical program.
  • Master's degree required; Doctoral degree encouraged.
  • Current NCCPA, NP certification, or medical license.
  • Clinical practice licensure in the State.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience as a practicing PA, NP, or physician.
  • Teaching experience in clinician education is strongly preferred.
  • Significant personnel management skills.
  • Curriculum development experience.
  • Fundraising skills.
  • Instructional and coaching abilities.
  • Conflict resolution and change management skills.
  • Ability to represent the school and university effectively in public forums.
  • Knowledge of leadership and motivation concepts.
  • Experience with third-party contract negotiation and management.
  • Full-time academic position with 12-month contract including 4 weeks of vacation.
