About the position

The Assistant Professor position is a tenure-track faculty role in the Psychology program at Eastern Mennonite University, with two positions available. The successful candidates will be expected to teach a variety of undergraduate courses, including Developmental Psychology, Behavioral Analysis, Health Psychology, and upper-level electives in their area of expertise. The teaching load typically consists of three to four courses per semester. Candidates with expertise in cognitive psychology will also teach courses such as cognitive psychology, a two-semester sequence of research, neuropsychology, and other related courses as needed. Additionally, there is an interest in candidates who have skills in teaching graduate students in biomedicine. A key responsibility of this role is the development of an ongoing scholarly program that involves students, alongside expected participation in department and university service, including advising and mentoring students and serving on university committees.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate courses in Developmental Psychology, Behavioral Analysis, Health Psychology, and upper-level electives.
  • Teach courses in cognitive psychology, a two-semester sequence of research, neuropsychology, and other related courses as needed.
  • Develop an ongoing scholarly program that involves students.
  • Advise and mentor students into various psychology careers.
  • Participate in university committees and departmental service.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Psychology with expertise in cognitive psychology and developmental or health psychology.
  • College-level teaching experience or post-doctoral experience preferred.
  • ABD candidates will be considered at the rank of instructor.
