About the position

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) is seeking an Assistant Professor in Rangeland Ecology and Management to join the School of Earth, Environmental, and Marine Sciences. This tenure-track position aims to enhance the academic program focused on sustainable agriculture and resilient food systems, particularly in the context of the subtropical Rio Grande Valley, which faces challenges such as drought and extreme weather events. The successful candidate will engage in teaching, research, and collaboration with local agricultural and environmental stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in rangeland management, including range ecology, rangeland improvements, restoration practices, and ranch management.
  • Develop an active, field-based research program that involves mentorship and hands-on learning for undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Seek and secure external funding to support a robust research program focused on land management, climate change mitigation, adaptation, rangeland degradation, productivity, and livestock production.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. from an accredited university in Rangeland Management, Natural Resources, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
