About the position

The University of Cincinnati's School of Information Technology (SoIT) is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor to contribute to the fields of cybersecurity, cloud computing, software application development, human-computer interaction, and applied data science. The role involves teaching, conducting research, and engaging in service activities that align with the university's mission of excellence and diversity. The position is set to begin in August 2025 and aims to advance research in securing systems and information while fostering interdisciplinary collaborations.

Responsibilities

  • Attend meetings and participate in governance.
  • Prepare materials for teaching.
  • Conduct and teach assigned undergraduate and/or graduate-level courses and seminars in areas such as cybersecurity, cloud computing, software application development, human-computer interaction, and applied data science.
  • Serve as an academic adviser for students and evaluate student coursework.
  • Serve on college or university committees and participate in curriculum development activities.
  • Serve on graduate committees and supervise research laboratories.
  • Lead independent study activities and off-campus learning such as research and field work.

Requirements

  • An earned Ph.D. in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline is required prior to the effective date of appointment.
  • At least one term of teaching experience in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline at the undergraduate or graduate level.
  • Two peer-reviewed publications or one acquired external grant as a Co-PI or PI in areas related to information technology.
