About The Position

The University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) is seeking an Assistant Professor in Social Work for a tenure-track position within the School of Social Work. This role involves teaching in both the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and Master of Social Work (MSW) programs, advising students, engaging in research and scholarship, and contributing to service within the social work profession and the community. The position is designed for candidates who value diversity and interprofessional collaboration, with a focus on maintaining a healthy work/life balance.

Requirements

  • Accredited Master's Degree in Social Work.
  • PhD in Social Work or a related field (ABD candidates considered).
  • Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and scholarly productivity.
  • Ability to teach in at least two areas of the BSW and MSW Foundation curriculum.

Nice To Haves

  • At least three years of direct practice experience in social work.
  • Research, teaching, and/or practice experience with diverse populations.
  • Teaching experience at both the BSW and MSW levels.
  • Interest in teaching research methods and policy courses.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses in the BSW and MSW programs.
