About the position

The Assistant Professor position at UTHealth Houston focuses on elder mistreatment research within the School of Public Health. This tenure-track role is designed for exceptional investigators who are passionate about healthy aging and related topics. The successful candidate will join a collaborative research team, contribute to innovative projects, and have the opportunity to mentor emerging scholars while teaching in graduate programs.

Responsibilities

  • Developing a funded research program and disseminating findings in peer-reviewed journals focused on healthy aging, late-life quality of life, elder abuse, and/or social isolation intervention.
  • Mentoring emerging scholars in aging-related research.
  • Teaching in MPH and/or doctoral programs.
  • Serving in institutional and external capacities.
  • Collaborating with UTHealth Houston Institute on Aging cores and collaborators on inter-professional projects and research.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in a traditional public health discipline, a behavioral health discipline, a clinical health discipline, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated proven track record or strong potential for securing peer-reviewed funding and publications.
  • Commitment to excellence in teaching and advising graduate students and excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong passion for aging-related research and the ability to identify diverse funding sources.
  • Possess content expertise and teaching capabilities in areas related to public health.
