The role requires active participation in university committees and collaboration with colleagues to enhance the program's curriculum and student engagement. The Assistant Professor is expected to engage in scholarly activities, contributing to the academic community through research and creative endeavors. This position also involves marketing and recruiting efforts for the program, ensuring that it continues to attract a diverse student body. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to innovative teaching methods, utilizing various instructional delivery technologies to enhance the educational experience. Responsibilities

  • Teach Sports Management courses at the undergraduate and graduate level, with a total of 24 units for Assistant Professor and 24 or 32 units per year for Lecturer.
  • Design creative assignments and activities to foster hands-on, active learning in students.
  • Observe and evaluate student performance in meeting course objectives and provide prompt feedback.
  • Maintain accurate records of course enrollment, attendance, and student academic progress; prepare and submit grades and reports.
  • Provide a course syllabus to students within the first week of class as outlined in the faculty handbook.
  • Participate in faculty and university committees and meetings.
  • Engage in marketing and recruiting efforts for the Sport Management program.
  • Attend to responsibilities related to teaching, advising, and service as outlined in the faculty handbook.
  • Maintain an active research program that involves undergraduates in mentored research (for Assistant Professor).
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • For the Lecturer position, a Master's Degree is required; for the Assistant Professor position, a Doctoral Degree in Sports Management or a closely related field is required.
  • ABD (All But Dissertation) candidates will be considered with a set date for degree completion, entering at the Instructor level.
  • Proven or presumptive potential for successfully teaching Sports Management.
  • Ability to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of a faculty member and contribute significantly to the university community.
