About the position

The University of Massachusetts Boston is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Urban Education, Leadership, and Policy Studies within the Leadership in Education Department. This position aims to support the success of racially minoritized students through a focus on social justice and equity in education. The ideal candidate will have expertise in areas such as justice-centered leadership preparation, educational policy, and school finance, and will contribute to teaching, research, and service aligned with the university's urban mission.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out an active research agenda that contributes significantly to the field of urban education leadership.
  • Teach graduate-level courses in the Urban Education, Leadership, and Policy Studies program.
  • Advise doctoral students and serve on dissertation committees.
  • Contribute to service related to the university's urban mission.

Requirements

  • Earned doctorate in education or a related field awarded prior to September 1, 2024.
  • Record of or potential for effective graduate teaching.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering equity among students, faculty, and staff.
  • Capacity for conducting research using critical quantitative methodologies.
  • Potential for external grant funding for research.
