About the position

The Department of Physical Therapy at LSU Health New Orleans is seeking applications for a 12-month assistant professor position, available on either a clinical or tenure track. This role is integral to a well-established program known for its continuous accreditation and successful student outcomes. The curriculum emphasizes learner-centered education, utilizing case-based and group learning facilitated by faculty through Socratic discussions and integrated clinical experiences. The position involves teaching, engaging in scholarly activities, advising students, supervising capstone projects, and contributing to departmental service.

Responsibilities

  • Teach in the entry-level Doctor of Physical Therapy program based on content expertise.
  • Engage in scholarly activities and research.
  • Advise students and supervise their capstone projects.
  • Participate in integrated classroom and group learning experiences.
  • Contribute to departmental service and administrative tasks.

Requirements

  • Possess a degree in Physical Therapy with an academic doctorate (Ph.D., Ed.D., etc.) or ABD preferred.
  • Hold or be eligible for Louisiana licensure.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of clinical experience required.
  • Prior teaching experience and involvement in scholarly activities is desirable.

Nice-to-haves

  • Expertise in cardiopulmonary or pediatrics is strongly encouraged.
  • Expertise in professionalism, administrative issues, health policy, and wellness will also be considered.
