The School of Social Work (SSW) at Arizona State University (ASU) is seeking applications for multiple full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professors to begin in August 2025. The SSW is looking to expand its expertise in three key areas: gerontology and/or lifelong disability, medical/health social work with an emphasis on interprofessional practice, and social welfare policy research/analysis. The ideal candidates will possess innovative ideas and a research agenda that aligns with the mission of the SSW, which is to prepare social work practitioners, researchers, and advocates to lead positive change both locally and globally. The SSW and Watts College are committed to community-embedded research that advances evidence-based practices and positively impacts communities. ASU's School of Social Work is one of the largest in the nation, with over 2,000 students enrolled across various campuses and online formats. The school ranks #20 among MSW programs and #11 in research productivity, reflecting its strong academic reputation. The faculty comprises over 70 tenure and career track scholars who engage in research on social and economic justice, often in collaboration with local, national, and international communities. The SSW has 11 research centers that focus on various issues, including health, child well-being, and gender-based violence, providing ample opportunities for interdisciplinary research. The forthcoming Medical School at ASU will further enhance collaborative research opportunities for social work faculty. The successful candidates will be expected to teach undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral courses in various formats (in-person, online, and hybrid), mentor graduate students, conduct research, publish findings in peer-reviewed journals, and pursue external funding. Additionally, they will engage in service activities that support the school, college, university, and community.
